Privacy Policy
This policy explains how the game Piki & Max (the “App”), made by Black Yellow Studio (“we”, “us”), handles information. If you have any questions, write to juancarlos@blackyellow.studio.
Information we do not collect
The App does not ask for, collect or send us any personal information. In particular, it does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts, photos, voice, device or advertising identifiers, or usage analytics. The App contains no third-party advertising, analytics or tracking code, and it never sends information to a server of ours. The only online features are the Apple services described below.
Information stored on your device
To work properly, the App saves a few things on your iPhone or iPad. We cannot see this information:
- Game progress and records (unlocked levels, high scores, best times, coins found).
- Settings (difficulty, language, music and sound volume, vibration, screen shake, controls feel).
- Whether you have already seen the story and the tips.
- A random nickname such as “Player 123”, used only for nearby co-op (see below).
- Whether the full game has been unlocked.
Deleting the App deletes all of this from the device (your purchase can always be restored). Like other app data, it may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup), which are handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
In-app purchase
Level 1 is free; the rest of the game can be unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details, name or Apple Account; the App only asks Apple whether the purchase was made, so it can unlock the levels.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, your level records (levels finished, best times, scores and coins found) are also saved in your own iCloud account, so your other iPhones and iPads with the App share them. This data is stored by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and we cannot access it. You can turn it off in Settings › [your name] › iCloud.
Game Center
If you are signed in to Game Center, the App reports your achievements and your best score for each level to Game Center, so you can see them and compare with friends. Game Center is Apple's service and is covered by Apple's privacy policy; depending on your Game Center settings, your nickname and scores may be visible to other players. We do not receive personal information through Game Center. You can sign out in Settings › Game Center.
Nearby co-op (two iPhones)
The App can connect directly to a friend's iPhone nearby so you can play together. For this, iOS will ask your permission to use the local network. When you play this way, the two devices exchange only what the game needs: the random nickname, which sibling each player chose, button presses and the state of the game. This information goes straight from one device to the other over Wi-Fi or peer-to-peer Wi-Fi; it is not sent over the internet, it is not sent to us, and it is not saved after the session. You can turn local network access off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.
Game controllers
The App uses Apple's Game Controller framework to read buttons from controllers that iOS recognizes. Controller input is used only to play and is not stored or shared.
Information Apple may share with us
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store. If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous information such as crash reports and the number of downloads. This information does not identify you. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Children
Piki & Max is made for families and children. Because the App collects no personal information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (as defined by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) or children under 16 in the European Union. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question, please contact us at juancarlos@blackyellow.studio.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California law) you may have rights to access or delete personal information about you. Since we do not collect or hold any personal information from the App, there is nothing for us to access or delete. You can remove the App's data by deleting the App, reset records in the App's Settings, and manage iCloud and Game Center data in your device's Settings. If you email us, we will use your email only to reply to you and will delete it on request.
Changes to this policy
If the App changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the date above before the change is released.
